Sail4th 250 in New York - Photographing a historic event for The Trust for Governors Island

Some events are memorable because of their scale. Others are memorable because of the stories they tell. Sail4th 250 was both.

I had the opportunity to photograph Sail4th 250 for The Trust for Governors Island, documenting one of New York City's most exciting waterfront event in honor of American's 250th birthday, on July 4, 2026. The events brought together historic tall ships, military flyovers, and incredible harbor views with the iconic Statue of Liberty as a backdrop. The parade featured one of the largest gatherings of tall ships ever assembled in New York Harbor, drawing vessels and crews from around the world.

As a New York event photographer, I love assignments that combine storytelling, documentary photography, and genuine human moments. This event offered all of that—and more.
